You may think your outfit is the bottom line when it comes to how you look, but anyone who's ever had a bad hair day knows that's just not the case! Even your best outfits don't feel quite right when your hair doesn't do its part, or does too much-- frizz, anyone? Coloring treatments and daily blow drying/straightening alone can cause a fair amount of damage, and that doesn't even take into account other factors like harsh weather and chemicals! But before you throw in the towel and resign yourself to a future filled with hats and last resort ponytails, let us introduce you to the WEN collection from Chaz Dean Studio. WEN is definitely not your typical hair care line- there's no shampoo! Instead of lathering your hair with chemicals, WEN cleansing conditioners use astringent and antibacterial elements to clean hair, while adding sheen, moisture, and strength. In formulas like fig, cucumber, aloe, sweet almond mint, tea tree, and lavender, you can be sure your hair will smell as wonderful as it is healthy! We spoke to Chaz Dean Studio about their hair treatments, favorite products, and advice for chronic blow dryers- read on to see what they had to say!

Stylehive: How does the Wen mask work?
Chaz Dean:
The WEN Re-Moist Hydrating Mask is a convenient, at-home treatment that restores hair to a brilliant, healthy shine. For deep, intensive moisturizing, apply liberally to clean, wet hair and leave in from 30 to 45 minutes at least. To achieve maximum results leave in overnight before thoroughly rinsing out in the morning.

Stylehive:
What makes the Wen mask different from the other treatments out there?
Chaz Dean: Like all WEN products, the WEN Re-Moist Hydrating Mask is the result of a meticulously developed blending of just the right ingredients to achieve an exceptional and unique treatment. For some fifteen years, I've mixed my own conditioners and oils to use as a hair mask in the salon on our celebrity clients. But after such an overwhelming demand from everyone who's ever tried it, I decided to make a more concentrated mask available to my clients and anybody else looking for a deep, hydrating hair product.

Stylehive:
What are some key ingredients to look out for when choosing a hair mask?
Chaz Dean:
There are so many brands out there that put together their ingredients in a great variety of ways and people respond individually according to their own preferences in scent, texture etc. However, I personally would recommend looking for what's natural and healthy. I formulated all my WEN products with this important philosophy. For the WEN Re-Moist Hydrating Mask, I very carefully selected ingredients such as Shea Butter, Sea Buckthorn fruit extract, Kukui Nut Oil, Tamanu Nut Oil and Neem extract among others for their healthy, beneficial properties and blended them together in a perfect balance to achieve beautiful hair.

Stylehive:
What can we do to prevent hair from the effects of winter weather?
Chaz Dean:
It seems like so many products are geared towards repairing damage after the fact. That is due primarily to the misguided habits - such as the regular use of shampoo. I have always been an outspoken proponent against the use of shampoo because they contain harsh chemical ingredients that gradually damage your hair. Regular use of all our WEN products offers everyone a healthy regimen that is preventative. When you've established your WEN regimen there wouldn't be any need to "repair" but a consistently healthy, strong and glamorous hair.

Stylehive:
I blow dry my hair every day- will the Wen mask help keep my hair healthy?
Chaz Dean:
First of all, I would highly recommend you use the hair dryer less often. If and when you need to, you need to apply a product that contains heat protectants. WEN Styling Creme is an excellent product to use prior to blow drying. It's a virtually weightless formula with the styling options and the benefits of a leave-in conditioner, polishing gloss and gel. It works great on straight, wavy or curly hair types to give you rich moisture, gleaming shine and body with hold and most importantly for you - it will protect your hair from any damage caused by blow dryers.

Stylehive:
What other Wen products do you recommend most?
Chaz Dean:
I believe that the foundation of all the other WEN products is the WEN Cleansing Conditioner because it all starts there. Ditch the shampoo because they're really not good for you. WEN Cleansing Conditioner is a non-lathering formula that contains natural astringents to thoroughly cleanse hair without stripping it of moisture. Additionally it provides your hair with a rich blend of nutritious botanicals that conditions and revitalizes hair to its most gorgeous potential. You will be amazed at how stronger, fuller and more beautiful your hair can be with WEN Cleansing Conditioners.
