StyleDiary.net was created in August 2004 by fashion and technology industry veteran Patricia Handschiegel, who saw a niche for showing style from around the globe. A former stylist for a Today show correspondent, freelance fashion journalist, ghost writer and publicist, Handschiegel leveraged a love for shoes and a background in internet technology/business to build what has become one of the most unique and popular fashion/style sites online.
To meet the tremendous technological demands of the site's fast growth, Handschiegel partnered with software architect William Kapke in late 2004. Kapke has more than fifteen years of experience working with cutting edge hardware and software technology and has been a senior level architect for large internet service providers and the worlds most popular social networking site. This provided the real world expertise needed to build a completely custom platform that can scale beyond 100 million users.
